I love Home Improvement

As you can probably tell if you have read my blog a couple times I love home improvement projects! I am a big fan of changing the little things to make a huge difference. I like this kind of home improvement because it usually isn't too expensive. We have done a couple big projects, so now we have some little projects left. Anglian Home Improvements is a UK based company that has been around for decades and excels in home improvements. They work in all areas of home improvement but are wanting to spread the word about their double glazing for windows. Their high quality replacement windows are among the world's best selling. After 35 years in the business it is no surprise that they are one of the best. If you are from the UK and thinking about doing some home improvements or replacing your windows, check out the website for more details.

Taps and Faucets

I have previously mentioned some of the home improvement projects we have been working at our house. We have put in some Pergo floors in the kitchen and dining room, we took out our sliding glass door and put in French doors, and we recently had our swimming pool filled in. I have mentioned before that sometimes when you are trying to improve and update your house small and simple things can make worlds of change. Some of those small things may be changing out the taps in your bathrooms or kitchen.

Taps4less.com is an online tap shop where you can shop for different makes, models and brands. I know a huge selection is very important when remodeling your kitchen and bathroom to make sure you get the exact look you are going for. Before you decide you leave your house to do a bunch of running around and looking for new faucets, check out this website to see if you can find your perfect match. As I was browsing the website I saw some very cool taps that I may consider when it is time to remodel our bathroom, but until then it is fun to look!

Happy Labor Day

What will you be doing to labor today? I am planning on taking advantage of having my husband home today. Right now he is helping some friends move into their new home, but as soon as he gets back we start the work here! We have some pictures and decorations I want to get hung on our walls. Even though the boxes are unpacked, all the walls are naked. We haven't begun to try and hang pictures yet, so today we start! I'm also hoping we can do some landscaping in our front yard. We are working on ripping out some huge bushes in the front of the house! I hope you enjoy your holidays and labor hard today!

The Pool is NO more

So here are the before, during, and after shots of our pool demo. It was really stressful while it was happening. They had a couple of trucks in the street and a huge pile of dirt in the street and so everybody who lived past us in the culdesac (sp?) couldn't get past our house and had to park in front of someone else's house. Because of this we made cookies for all the neighbors and dropped them off to say sorry. This is the second time we have disrupted the neighborhood. Hopefully the cookies smooth things over so no one hates us! Our side yard is completely trashed. We don't know if the grass will ever come back from being smash with the tractor so much. Also all of our planter boxes are pretty much ruined so we don't know if we'll take out all the plants and just put grass in or if we'll replant and try to get the planter boxes back. Who knows, but for now our backyard is very unusable.

I feel a little nervous and sick right now

So we bought a house with a pool, we didn't want a pool but this is the house we bought and so we are stuck with a pool. Stuck until today. We are having our pool filled in. I know a lot of people will think we are crazy for this but we didn't want the added expense of a pool, we didn't want to fence off the yard so our baby would fall in and we didn't want to do all the repairs the pool needed anyway. Today was the day the guys showed up to fill it in. We had no idea they were showing up today. I was going to put my baby down for a nap and when we got out of the basement the pool was being torn apart. Now I wanted this to happen, but I've never had any big construction done to anything I've ever lived in. I've never seen big construction like this besides on the side of the road. We have huge tractors and back hoes in our tiny backyard. It is crazy! Our driveway is filled with concrete and dirt. I didn't know what to expect when we signed up for this, but for some reason I thought it would be a little be cleaner and neater of a process. I have some pretty flowers bed in the backyard that are now trashed with concrete and tractor tires. I think we won't be able to save the flower garden and so we will have to put in more grass than we thought. Things aren't going the way I had them planned in my head so now I feel sick. The next problem that will probably arise is that he is going to charge us twice our estimate! Bring on the price battle!

Carnival of Home Improvement

It has been a while since I participated in a Blog Carnival but I really want to participate in the Carnival of Home Improvement. As you saw in my previous post we are trying to decide which flooring to put down. I'm hoping that by participating in this carnival I can start getting some input from people who are also improving their house or know a lot about the subject. If you are interested please click the above link and check out the Carnival of Home Improvement!

The Guest Room

The night we moved into the house we decided to start our home improvements while we waited for the movers to arrive with our things. We were surprised to find 2 layers of wall paper on the wall we were tackling. The first layer came off without a hitch. The second layer was more stubborn.

We painted the room a light gray called "fired steel"

This is some of the new furniture and accessories that we have decorated the room with. We aren't completely finished in there. We still need to hang the curtains and make the bed with our new comforter set.
