Time Sure Flies

When I was younger my Mom used to always tell me that I was growing up too fast and she wished she could keep me her little girl. I always thought this was funny because to me time was going slow. School was hard, and I had friends to play with and activities to attend. Time wasn't flying by for me. Then all of the sudden I was getting married and graduating from college, and it seemed time did fly by. This week was my daughter's second birthday and boy, has time flown by with her. It seems we just brought her home from the hospital and now here she is a big two year old. She is becoming very independent and she definitely has her own opinions about things. I'm sad that she is growing up so fast, but I'm so proud of her and how grown up she is and the and delightful young lady she is turning into. I now really understand my Mom's position when she told me time was flying by.

Time to Prepare

My family has been having a family crisis this past week. My father found out his sister is in the hospital and this next week she may pass away. These events have led me to ponder the consequences of death on a family. My Aunt has no money and no way to pay for any of these medical bills and potential funeral bills. For this reason it is important to have life insurance. When you pass away your bills don't disappear and putting on a funeral and taking care of those arrangements cost thousands of dollars. That would be an awful burden to place on your family you have left behind.

There are many companies and websites that can help you get your life insurance set up. One of them is called Life Insure. They have several policies and have a system of giving you an instant quote depending on how much life insurance you want and where you live. I have heard that you should have at least five times your yearly salary.

My husband has life insurance that we pay for and his company gives him some life insurance but we aren't nearly covered enough. I don't have any life insurance and I need to get some. If anything were to happen to me and my husband I would want my daughter to be financially taken care of for a while. I'm going to get a quote for my husband at Life Insure and if you don't have any insurance, maybe you should look into it also.

Holy Storm, Batman

We have been experiencing some crazy thunder and lightning storms lately. Luckily I have overcome me fear of thunder, but now it is plain annoying. They always happen in the middle of the night and end up keeping us awake all night long. There are incredible amounts of lightning. There are about 10 strikes before the thunder even has a chance to come from the first one. The other day it was raining and as we were going home from grocery shopping there was the most beautiful double rainbow. I really wished I had my camera to show you. It was very bright, all the colors were very vivid and it was beautiful. We certainly have experience different weather here in Kansas than we did in California.

Speaking of California, our prayers and hearts go out to those who have lost their homes or know people who have lost their homes. It has got to be a very scary thing to be evacuated or told to be prepared to be evacuated from the fires. My sister's sister-in-law's house burned down and it has been sad for that family. I hope that everyone is well and know that we are praying for you.

Thinking about Blogging

Think Before You Blog

This is very funny because it rings true in my ears. This is the reason that I decided to make my blog random. I don't know enough about one topic to continue a blog about it, and I didn't want to post trash just to fill the space. This way I can blog about meaningful things that aren't related.

Blog Reviews

If you have noticed the past couple of days I have been doing blog reviews. I think doing blog reviews is a good way for me to see different ideas, templates and placing of page elements and compare what works and what doesn't. With my blog reviews I give my input about the blog and any suggestions I may have to improve it or new ideas for the blog. I'm new to blog reviews but I am enjoying it. Random Encounters of We is a page rank 4 blog with ever increasing numbers of subscribers and technorati "faves" so a link from here would definitely be a benefit. If you are interested in having your blog reviewed on Random Encounters of We please email me at randomencountersofwe@gmail.com with the details of your blog and the url. If you have an aspect of your blog you would like me to focus on or at least point out I would be happy to do that. A blog review from me only costs $25 and you can pay by paypal. Thanks to the blog that have already purchased a review from me and I look forward to meeting more of you through a blog review.

Blog Review: Allinanchor

Overview

Allinanchor is an internet marketing blog. This blog is pumped full of so much information that it will definitely take a couple times reading to get caught up. This blog is very user friendly in the sense that the terminology and language can be understood by the average person. This blog will definitely help you improve your blog, your blog's traffic and understanding of internet marketing. Through my wanderings of Allinanchor I have become very interested in what the author has to say and so it will definitely be thrown into my reading rotation.

Structure

This very organized blog is in a three column template made up of blue and cream hues. It is very neat and clean, making it very easy to read. The posts are a good length, not too long. I find that I am more willing to keep reading blogs with posts that aren't too long. These posts are informative and a great length. The sidebars don't include anything distracting to the content, so that is nice.

Favorite Post

My favorite post on Allinanchor is about SEO entitled SEO is Easy. I have said on multiple occasions that I don't really understand the ins and outs of SEO. This post definitely sums up the basics of SEO in language I can understand. It also puts a different perspective on SEO than I have read on other blogs by saying that "SEO isn't hard, it's expensive." I found that interesting.

I think if you are trying to improve your blog and learn more about how to market your blog, this blog will definitely help your efforts. I look forward to reading more and continue to read Allinanchor.

Blog Reviews: Lisa Reviews

Overview

Lisa Reviews is a blog where Lisa "reviews on the things you want to know about." On this blog Lisa reviews products, movies, books, stores... pretty much anything. It is really interesting going through the various items and getting her opinion on that item. There were a couple movie reviews on her blog of movies I had seen so it was interesting to read her opinion of them.

Structure

This blog has a three column design with a blue color pattern. Things are neatly organized. The sides bars to display widgets of the various social sites she is a member of such as MyBlogLog. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page she has neatly organized her recent posts, recent comments and ads. I really like this format for a blog. She also has some tabs on the top to help the readers navigation. One of the tabs contains her categories. I really like this feature, it really keeps the side bars neat and clean to have a separate location for all the different topics she reviews.

Favorite Post

My favorite post was her review of the movie Flushed Away. She says she took a while to see it because she heard bad reviews. I haven't heard any reviews of it, but it also took us a while to see it, and I thought it was hilarious. We enjoyed it as much as she did.

This blog is full of great items and reviews and worth checking out. I always like to get a second opinion on things so you may find it here. If she doesn't have something you are looking for on this site, perhaps you can email her and ask her to do a review of something for you, that could be a great new tactic to get the readers involved and bring in more traffic. Head on over and check out Lisa Reviews.

Wall Brackets

We don't have a huge TV but it seems that most people in Kansas have a giant TV in their basement. Since we don't have one, we like to be friends with people that do (just kidding). It just so happens that a lot of our friends do have really big televisions in their basements. Plasma screen televisions are the new thing and the best to have. With spending so much money on a television you better have your television securely fastened to something so it doesn't fall and break. There are now Plasma Wall Brackets to help you securely fasten your television so you won't ever have to worry about it crashing to the floor. You better make sure you have something very sturdy and reliable like these brackets so you won't have a major tragedy and some angry household members on your hands. At Dekomount they have many different types of brackets and can help you select the proper bracket depending on the make of your screen and size of your television. Check it out.

Blog Review: My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings

Overview

After spending some time browsing and reading and discovering on My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings I have come to the conclusion that this is a blog I would enjoy reading on a weekly basis. This blog is written by a stay at home Mom who could be anyone's best friend. In this blog she talks about daily life happenings in the life of a stay at home mom. She has several projects and blogs she is working on at the moment as well as a couple kids, so you know she is busy.

Structure

My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings is very neatly organized with a three column template. There aren't ads or any other distracting items in the side bars. I like the blue color choices for the background and side bars. The top tabs provide easy navigation.

Favorite Post

It may seem funny that I have chosen a rather odd favorite post from this blog. It is entitled What the??? but it is my favorite because everyone can relate to this. At one point or another the utilities company has claimed that everyone is late with a bill or didn't pay their bill. Everyone has probably fought with a utility company over a bill at some point. I think posts like this is what makes this blog so relateable (is that a word?) and fun to read.

Take a few minutes and head over to My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings for a genuine good time with a lady that cares.

A Great Time of Year

I love fall. I love when things start to cool down. The weather starts change. The leaves and plants start turning pretty colors. There is a wonderful fall scent that fills the air. It is a great time of year. Fall also means that some of the year's greatest holidays are coming. Halloween is very fun for us. We totally get into it. Our house is somewhat decorated. We put up some lights and thing but then I got sick so I stopped decorating. Thanksgiving is a very yummy holiday. We are excited to have our own Thanksgiving this year with the just three of us. It is fun to have big family gatherings, but when your family is new and little it is exciting to celebrate on your own. Then Christmas is a great time of year, so much happiness and charity throughout the world. New Years is nothing special, but fun. It is a great excuse to get a couple days off of work. Fall is the great door opener to a fantastic year end. Happy fall everyone!

Easy to Book

As my trip to Germany approaches I have started thinking about a couple side trip I would like to take. Easy to Book is a great site to look up hotels in other countries. For example the link will take you to the site for hotels in Amsterdam. That is one of the places I am wanting to take a little trip to while in Germany so I have had some fun looking that up.

When we were choosing our flight options one of them had a lay over in London. I was hoping maybe we could make it a longer lay over by staying a day in London. If we were to do this I could also book my hotel at Easy to book.

You may have also noticed from reading this blog a couple of months that I love Broadway shows. Easy to book also has some New York hotel deals you can check out if you are headed there. We are wanting to take a quick trip to NYC to see a new show that just opened last week. We'll have to keep checking out the deals to see what we can do.

A Napkin Holder

One would think after four months of living in our new home we would have come across everything we need to live comfortably adequately. We have packed for trips and unpacked our things and just plainly lived and yet today we came up with three things we still need (besides a couch, that's been obvious from the beginning). We firstly need a napkin holder. Now I don't know why this took so long to discover. We have been putting a pile of napkins in the middle of our table for months now and it bothers me everyday, but I have never thought of a napkin holder. Today at lunch when my husband went to get more napkins out of the cupboard he said "we should get a napkin holder." Well duh! Why didn't I think of that.

The second thing that we thought of that we need we actually thought of a couple weeks ago. We need a toilet brush. For Christmas many, many years ago we received a bottle brush (don't ask me why) and so we have been using that as our toilet brush. Well I think I'm finally old enough and responsible enough to own a real toilet brush.

The third thing we though of because we have been doing a lot of yard work lately trying to make our landscaping beautiful. It is far from it right now if you were wondering. Anyway, we need a rake. It would be really helpful in evening out the dirt where we are going to put sod and in pulling out all the weeds everywhere.

It's funny how long you can go with some basic items. This weekends shopping trip we will be sure to include these few items as well as the normal things we purchase on a weekly basis. I wonder what we will come up with next that we need.

A Link from John Chow

So I haven't been John Chow's biggest fan but lately I decided to bury my negative feelings and try to learn from the man. A couple days ago he wrote a post about eating at Union Gospel Mission which is a soup kitchen in Vancouver. He said that everyone who donated money to the mission to help them feed the hungry for the upcoming holidays would receive a link back from him and he would match dollar for dollar all the donations. I thought this would be huge to get a link, after all most people know how great John's stats are. I decided to donate so I could get an impressive link from John Chow to this blog. Yesterday he posted the results of the donations and the lists of people who donated with there link and there was my name proudly displayed near the top of the list. It is great to have a link from John Chow to here and it hopefully bring little rush of traffic! Thanks John!

Gumtree

A large majority of the readers of this blog come from different countries than the U.S. Right now I would like to turn my attention to those of you from London. Have you heard of Gumtree? It is an online community that is a lot like classifieds. Some of the topics in the Gumtree are places to rent, and jobs in London.

I love to visit sites like this because there is always so much to learn about. It seems people are always in need of something and Gumtree definitely has that something. My husband and I are currently browsing the market for a car at an affordable price. I love to go to online communities where people lists things like this that they have for sale.

Going to Gumtree to check out what your community in London has for sale, for rent or for any need you may currently have is a great way to support your community and your neighbors. There are hundred of listings in tons of topics. Whatever you are searching for, I'm sure it is there.

Speaking of Jewelery

I have started to think about the upcoming holidays and the gifts that need to be purchased. I often to buy jewelery as gifts because I wouldn't know what to buy. Last year my husband and I did attempt to buy some necklaces for his sister and it turned out well. This year I think we may attempt jewelery again.

I think earrings are probably a safe bet to buy for people for a gift. Shopping.com has some great selections of earring sets, from hoops, to beads, to studs; white gold and yellow gold. There are some beautiful earrings with Sworovski crystals in there, and others with different gemstones. There is a huge selection with great prices. There are a lot of different styles and I'm sure you would be able to find something for a special someone in your life on this site. I may go pierce my ears just so I can have a pair!

Becoming a Pearl

It takes 3-6 years for a clam to make a pearl. There are differing factors that can cause the pearl to be made faster or slower such as the size of the irritant it is trying to get rid of but it basically follows that 3-6 year time line. Just as a beautiful pearl takes a while to form and become a piece of elegant jewelery so does a website that intends to continue to improve and become better. This website has just launched its forth template in 11 months. We are constantly working to become bigger and more beautiful. We strive to publish quality content that will help people. We try to have fun, interactive contests to get people involved and participating in the site. We have reached some level of success with having 19+ subscribers and getting steady comments and participation. I hope it doesn't take 3-6 years for us to meet our introductory goals of 25+ subscribers and $200-300 per month, but we will do what we need to, to continue to improve so we can meet those goals and reach for higher ones.

In honor of this new template while I was on vacation I cracked a pearl out of a clam and put it on a necklace. When I can get a good picture of it I'll add it to this post.
Any feed back on this new template would be appreciated. We are still ironing out some wrinkles in the sidebar to get it organized better, any opinion there would also be appreciated. Thanks!

The New Random Button

You may have noticed that Random Encounter of We has matured a little with a new template. We decided we needed to get a little more sophisticated and organized. We still have some tweaking to do with the side bar, but last night when we launched the new template it was very exciting!

What I want to discuss is the top right side of the new template. There are a series of four buttons and the last one says 'Random'. Now if you ever find yourself in a mood where you aren't sure what you want to read about or you are looking for a surprise, you can simply click on the 'random' button and a random post from this site will pop up. It is a lot of fun. I had a good time clicking it yesterday and reading some old posts I had forgotten about. Happy browsing and have a random good time!

Cruise Highlights

Well we are back! We had a fabulous time, it was very sad to get off the cruise ship this morning. I wanted to share a couple of the highlights of our 9 day Alaskan cruise with you.
We were on the ship Vision of the Seas. This trip to Alaska was a repositioning cruise and the very last time this ship will ever go to Alaska. The guidelines have been heightened and this ship no longer meets the requirements to be able to sail in Alaska. This was also one of the last cruises of the season so both of these things meant some great sales!!
A very fun thing about cruising is the cute towel animals left in your room every night. We had many different animals. Some of them were this cute elephant, a monkey, a frog, scorpion (not so cute!) and a penguin. We had one every night but I don't remember all of them (isn't that sad I'm already forgetting things about my vacation!)
While in Alaska we stopped in Juno, Skagway and Ketchikan. Ketchikan was by far my most favorite town of all of them. It was a ton of fun. I had never been to Alaska and although the weather was awful it was beautiful!
This is my husband and me on the out of a deck freezing. We had a blast!!
My most favorite part of cruising is definitely the food. There is some great food and a lot of it on a cruise! This particular dish was shrimp and lobster. It was very tasty. I am sad to be leaving all the great food on the cruise and I am even more sad to have to start cooking again, but now I have motivation to save my pennies so I can go on another cruise soon!

Don't Rush Through It

I have a hard time with not rushing through my posts. Some times I get so excited to post about something that I don't take the time to tell you all the details. I find myself giving the 'readers digest' version instead of the full version. I need to slow down and take my time. I think I rush through because I think I will forget my train of thought, or because I only have a few moments here and there to write before I need to get back to my daughter for play time or reading time. When I read other blogs I am always so impressed with the amount of detail and information in each post. I realized then that my posts were rushed and didn't contain enough information about that I was talking about. This is a new goal that I have, to slow down and give all the facts instead of rushing through just to get it posted so you can read part of the facts. I think that Microsoft Word will help me with my rushing. If I write my posts in Word then I can save them and have them for later. I can even write some bulleted points that I want to touch on and keep that on the same page as my post and as I get to each bullet erase it and keep going. Most of you have already thought of this plan I am sure. Are any of you already using the Word method? What are some other ideas I can use to help myself slow down, state all the facts and details I want to but not forget my train of thought in case I have to write a post over several hours or days? Thanks in advance for the input!

Tutoring

Sometimes school is tough and you need extra help to get through certain subjects. My first year out of college I worked in special programs at an elementary school and we helped tutor kids in math and reading. During college husband also had a tough time in some classes and so he went to some tutoring sessions to get homework help. A lot of people need some extra help to get by in some areas of their education. Others are good in some subjects, but not in other. Whatever the situation there is help.

There is now an online tutoring company called Tutor Vista. They offer an unlimited tutoring package for $99.99 a month for all subjects. At times they have special offers and discounts on that price. The tutoring is available 24/7. When I was in college Algebra is where I had a hard time, if Tutor Vista had been around I could have been tutored online in that subject.

In addition to all these great helps in different subjects, Tutor Vista also offers exam preps for tests such as the SAT, ACT, GED and many more. This is an awesome program with a lot to offer. If you are in need of assistance or someone who might benefit from this program pass the website along. School doesn't need to be impossible, there is help available.
